Learn to Make Shoe Lasts
Tuesday July 14, 2009
Every shoemaker and designer knows that a pair of shoes is only as good as the shoe last they're formed upon.
Until recently, I didn't know of anywhere in the United States that offered instruction on making shoe lasts. But just last week, I learned of one comprehensive class that teaches exactly that.
If you're near enough to Shohomish, Washington, United States to take advantage of this unique and intensive course, you may want to have a look at the details.

Evening Pumps
Thursday July 9, 2009
Want to make an impact at your next evening event? Of course, pretty evening sandals would do the trick, but sometimes they get lost in a sea of glitzy, strappy, heels. Instead, try a pair of sexy pumps with fancy trim or embellishments, for a look that's classic and head-turning.
I'm particularly smitten with these soutache-trimmed pumps from Martinez Valero. They remind me of a pair of Louboutins I wanted a few years back, but, at less than $150, they're a fraction of the price.
Also available in black, red, or the perfect shade of pink, these open-toed pumps have 4.5" heels and partially-concealed .5" platform soles.
If this type of braided trim isn't your thing, don't worry. Glamorously-embellished footwear is going to be hot in the coming seasons, so you'll have plenty of ruffles, feathers, bows and lace to choose from.

I'm addicted to sneakers, so I know how tempting it is to wear them all the time. But it's astonishing what wearing a pair of chic casual shoes can do for your mood. In fact, even a trip to the local deli seems a little more fun if your shoes are cute enough.
Whether they're flats or heels doesn't matter, as long as they are comfortable, fashionable, and most importantly, that they make you feel good about yourself.

Disinfecting Shoes
Wednesday July 8, 2009
Last week I asked for your thoughts on wearing used shoes. As a result, I received several questions about disinfecting used and vintage footwear, so I thought I'd share with you a link to this Shoe Disinfectant and Deodorizing Spray. I haven't used it myself yet, but it sounds like it should do the job.
If anyone else has used it, or has their own tips for disinfecting and/or deodorizing shoes, feel free to share them by using the comment link below.
