Rules for Mules - Tips for Choosing & Wearing Mules
I love mules. Perhaps it's the ability to easily slip them on and off; or maybe it's the range of styles available; or it could simply be the fact that they seem less confining than other dress shoes - but whatever the reason, on a recent shoe-shopping trip, I realized that over half the shoes I considered were those of the mule variety.
Here are a few Tips for Choosing & Wearing Mules.

I loved your article on mules. Went through my closet the other day and found that 80% of my heels and flats are mules.I wear them all year. Like you say the ease of slipping them on without having to strap or buckle is nice. At work I can take them off at my desk and relax my feet. I like bare legs in the summer and hose in the winter. Most of my mules are between 2 to 4 inch with pointy to round toes
Hi Dee,
I’m glad you liked the article. I have a crazy amount of mules too. Recently, I’ve been finding myself attracted to really ornately-embellished mules. I just purchased a pair with beading and sequins to pair with pants in the evening — pointy toes, very nice.
Best,
Desiree
Hey,Desiree what do think the spring styles of mules are going to be?I know its a long way off but was just wondering.I myself like the simple smooth kid leather design of a 3 to 4 inch mule.
Hey again Dee.
Since mules haven’t been quite as prevalent these last few years, I was really hoping for a comeback in Spring of 2010. I’m sorry to say that so far, I’m not seeing it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure there will be mules to choose from, but you know, I wanted a big, bad, invasion of dress mules.
A few of the other Spring ‘10 shoe trends I’ve seen include high wedges, espadrilles, light neutrals (again) and light purples. I’m sure there’ll be more to report soon. Watch this blog.
Best,
Desiree
