Hot or Not : Multi-Colored High Heel Shoes

They've been called "Lego shoes" and "Transformer shoes," and since Beyonce sported those now famous, multi-colored Balenciaga Sportilettos at the American Music Awards last fall, I've received multiple letters from people asking me about comparable styles.

One reader wrote in to tell me that two girls were so passionately fighting over a pair of similarly-styled shoes, that the police had to be called in ... and we're not just talking about the fashion police.

If you were looking for a lower-priced alternative, the good news is, the "Brenda" (available at BakersShoes.com) and the Bukled from Steve Madden (shown here) are both priced at under $100.

Designed by Nicolas Ghesquiere, the Balenciaga shoes originally would have set you back more than $4000 -- though they were later available for a mere $1400.

And if you really love the look bright, toy shoe look, SteveMadden.com's also taking pre-orders for this open-toed, candy colored boot that should really set your heart aflutter.

So now that you know where to find these hefty and unique armors for your feet, the question is, do you care?

There's a part of me that's kind of amused by them, and thinks I should buy a pair for my collection. Were I to see them in a book years from now, I'd be curious enough to try and track them down. But would I wear them? Probably not ... but that's just me.

How about you?

(1) High Heel Shoe Museum says:

These are such a blatant rip off of the fantastic original Balenciaga shoe design that they should be ashamed! The originals have cool ski boot style swivels and are obviously way better made and a far more sophisticated and polished design. These knock off’s look very cheap and its obvious they cut a lot of corners to sell them so cheap. Yuk! So there!

(5) I'm not Beyonce says:

This is to the person who wrote the first comment: I bet you can’t even afford to spend 4k on a pair of shoes and if you could or did I bet you wish you had not in this economy, and I would like to say I agree with the person who said that style is not about how much you spend it’s about having style, Yes the real shoes are Fab but real everyday women are not going to spend 4k on a damn pair of shoes, that’s just stupid in fact I can’t stand people like you because of your distorted view on reality you can spend a million dollars on an outfit and still look a mess I can spend 100 dollars and look like a million so HA
