Cute, Funky Shoes from WolandandMoon Styx Workshop

Tuesday November 18, 2008

wolandandmoon_shoes.jpgAnother trip to etsy.com brought about another footwear treasure, and I'm especially excited about this find.

Though I've never seen anything exactly like these handmade shoes, this collection from WolandandMoon reminds me a little bit of something you might see in Shoichi Aoki's Fruits or Fresh Fruits.

I'm a big fan of Tokyo street fashion, so the chunky styles really appeal, but what really makes these shoes the ultimate eye candy for women like me is the happy, feminine prints that add a bit of romance to the adorably hefty shoes.

Having previously designed clothing and accessories for collections for established lines in Paris, Amsterdam and Prague, Ness May and her design partner Pavel Woland have now turned their attention to footwear. Currently based in Tel Aviv, Israel, the design team recently began selling their creations on Etsy.com.

cute_funky_shoes.jpg The shoes are made in their own STYX workshop, but are sent to a small, local factory for the the final step of attaching the orthopedic soles -- which adds comfort and durability to the shoes.

While most of the shoes listed are only available in sizes 7 and smaller, I've been assured that the duo can make footwear in larger sizes -- which is good news, as I plan on ordering a pair for myself soon.

Since each ad lists multiple sizes, I recommend contacting them via an Etsy.com "convo" before ordering.

I am all about Etsy and I 100% support handmade goods and small businesses…but these are the most hideous shoes I think I have ever seen.

It’s too bad because the accessories from this Etsy seller are cute as can be.

Well, they’re certainly not for everyone — obviously, I think they’re cool. I guess that’s why there is chocolate and vanilla.
