Custom Hand Painted Shoes

Chucks -- as in Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars -- have always been cool, and probably always will be.

Having been issued in everything from rainbow stripes to camouflage; and red and green plaid with jingle bells to chucks covered with international flags, there seems to be no limits to what can be printed on a pair of these sneakers. And since I am always up for seeing something new done with this icon of footwear, I was thrilled the other day, when I stumbled across a site called "PunkYourChucks.com."

These fine folk will paint whatever you want onto a pair of Converse All Stars, as well as onto bags or denim jackets - and these aren't cheesy paintings either. With each pair of shoes taking 3 to 4 hours to paint, they look fantastic. The artwork is all done by hand, without the use of airbrushes or stencils, and the paint will not chip or fade.

Though they have a gallery of images you can choose from, it seems that your imagination is the only limit when it comes to the artwork what they will paint onto a pair of chucks. Particularly stunning are some of the movie, music and theater scenes they have done. Green Day's "American Idiot, My Chemical Romance, Nightmare Before Christmas, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Wicked are a few of my favorites, but the entire Design Gallery is worth a look.

I can't help but think what a great gift item this would be for fans of chucks, or fans of nearly anything - in fact, they'll definitely be on my holiday wish list. Now I just need to figure out what I'm going to have them paint for me.
