Looking through Stuart Weitzman's Spring line, it's difficult to imagine not finding a shoe to love. The styles are as unique and varied as I've ever seen in one collection, which isn't surprising considering the source.
We, the obsessed, know that Weitzman is capable of creating dazzling shoes that sparkle and shimmer their way down nearly every red carpet.
But what makes Stuart Weitzman especially compelling is that he doesn't just create shoes for award nominees. In fact, his collections as a whole show an awareness that there are many, many "types" of women, and a willingness to design for all of us.
Visitors to the Stuart Weitzman web site are greeted with the welcoming line "what women want."
Upon viewing his newest collection, I have to say that it does seem this designer has a frightening grasp on the various types of shoes that fill my fantasies, and it kind of makes me wonder what else he knows about me.
From the "Runaway" trainer, a futuristic-looking slip-on which features silver or gold gauze as the main fabrics; to the "California," a saucy, ankle-wrap sandal with jewel-covered straps, there is a not only a style of shoe for any occasion, but a style for nearly any mood.
Among his current offerings, fashionistas will happily find plenty of styles with the perfect combination of "cute" and "cool"; while shoe lovers with a more classic wardrobe will have no difficulty finding several cosmopolitan styles.
In addition to the "California," other highlights among the current offering include a mottled metallic, woven mule named "Cellini," and a superbly sophisticated sandal called "Basilisk."
And just in case you do have a red carpet to stroll upon, you definitely won't want to miss the "Icerink," a strappy and stunning evening sandal with Swarovski ring embellishments.
With prices ranging from $175 to $400 (US), a pair of Stuart Weitzman shoes is certainly not within every budget. But for quality designer footwear, the cost is relatively reasonable.
