Women's Blue Shoes for 2013

Top Picks in Blue Shoes for Women

By , About.com Guide

Shades of aqua, turquoise, and pastel blue are among the hottest shoe trends for spring and summer 2013, but honestly, blue shoes are always "in," even if they aren't particularly trendy. As an added bonus, most shades of blue are also very versatile, as they can be paired with a variety of colors.

From flats to pumps and loafers to sandals, here are a few of my top picks in this season's blue shoes for women.

Kelsi Dagger 'Ellice' - Sexy Blue Sandals

Over the past few years, Kelsi Dagger has been responsible for several of my favorite shoe styles, and these sexy, trendy sandals easily make their way onto that list.

Equipped with reasonably-high 4.25" wrapped wedge heels, and posh suede uppers, these killer heels are as versatile as they are attractive and unique. They could be paired with everything from skinny jeans to skirts and dresses. Of course, the dynamic aquamarine version is the one that landed these lookers shoes on this list, but they're also lovely in beige and black.

Splendid 'Newberry' - Women's Blue Shoes with Ballerina Styling

One look at these adorable blue flats and I could hardly imagine a cuter match for jeans, leggings or capris.

Featuring rich suede uppers, ballet styling, and barely-there 1/4" heels, these women's flats have deep-cut top lines and vamps, so they'll show a lot of foot -- which could be an advantage or disadvantage, depending on how your feel about your feet. But either way, the ocean blue shade is absolutely gorgeous, and also a little bit different from all the aquas and turquoises we're seeing this season.

Priced at just under $100 per pair, these ballet flats also look great in sand and black, and they're absolutely smashing in red.

Lumiani 'Papina' - Blue Suede Pumps

Reasonably-priced at just under $70, these shoes have a lot more than just their bargain price tag going for them: they have stylish but wearable 3.5" heels; synthetic uppers with a soft suede finish; and their color is absolutely perfect for 2013.

Though the shade is listed as "teal," I'd actually describe it as more of an aqua shade, or maybe even bright blue -- but whatever you call it, it's one of the season's top trends, and it would liven up any warm weather outfit.

Badgley Mischka 'Randall' - Stunning Evening Shoes in Sky Blue

Thanks to their glamorous styling and layered rose embellishments, these evening shoes would be eye-catching in any color, but this sky blue version is absolutely breathtaking.

With covered 4" heels and seductive two-piece uppers, these shoes have a style that is classic enough to pair with just about anything in your evening / formal wardrobe, and they have overwhelmingly positive reviews -- which isn't all that common for very high heels, and evening shoes in general.

Also available in pink, purple, vanilla, and another lovely shade of medium blue, these gorgeous open-toed shoes are practically guaranteed to turn heads.

Franco Sarto 'Hetty' - Pretty Blue Pumps with Lower Heels

This shade of turquoise is absolutely ideal for 2013, and thanks to their classic styling, the shoes themselves are perfect for any year.

Most women will find the covered 3" wedge heels of these pumps to be very wearable, and the open-toed style lends a great warm-weather vibe to them.

Priced at just under $90 per pair, these patent leather shoes also come in a pink version that features suede uppers, and is just as pretty.

DV by Dolce Vita 'Macao' - Blue Loafers for Women

If you're looking for a pair of blue shoes that will easily transition from winter to spring, while still playing perfectly into the coming season's hottest trends, check out these blue suede loafers from DV by Dolce Vita.

With luxurious suede uppers, perforated detailing, and two vamp tassels, these shoes come in a shade of blue that is classic and versatile -- and they'd be easy to pair with everything from skinny jeans to dress pants.

Also available in taupe, these trendy loafers ring up at just under $80.

Pelle Moda 'Dana' - Trendy Blue Sandals

If you want a pair of trendy blue sandals that you can wear through spring and summer, then you may want to have a look at these sexy wedge sandals from Pelle Moda.

While their five-inch cork heels definitely aren't for the faint of heart, they shouldn't be quite as killer as other 5" heels for two reasons: A) they are wedges, which are typically less painful than stilettos of the same height; and B) they are stabilized by 1.25" platform soles -- which, technically, should make them feel more like 3.75" heels.

Still, they're 5-inches high -- so steer clear if you're not accustomed to ultra-high heels.

Also available in taupe and coral, these timely aqua sandals feature suede uppers; elasticized back straps; and a price tag of just about $140.

Bandolino 'Capsie' - Baby Blue Slingback Pumps

So perfect for warm weather, and looking much more expensive than their $60 price tag, these lovely slingback shoes have wearable 3.5" heels and styling that would make them the perfect accessory for just about any skirt or dress in your wardrobe. But the best thing about these shoes -- aside from the gorgeous lilac blue shade -- is that their design is classic enough that you won't have to trade them in for a new pair next season, or even next year.
