Wondering what's going to be hot in Fall shoes for 2009? Here's a sneak peek at some of the hottest trends in Fall shoes and boots for women.
1. Cut-Out and Open-Toed Booties
If you were among those who hated last Fall's open-toed booties, then I'm sorry to tell you that you're in for at least one more season with the controversial style. But if you appreciate Fall footwear with open toes and cut-out detailing, then you're in luck, because this is one trend that's actually picking up steam.

2. Purple, Red and Neutral Shoes for Fall
Once again, we'll see an abundance of gray shoes this Autumn, and of course we'll be seeing our usual Fall earth tones. But if you're looking for a bit more color, you'll be happy to know that purples, reds, and medium to dark blues are among the hottest shades in Fall shoes.

3. Ruffled Shoes and Other Glamorous Embellishments
This Fall, we'll be seeing a lot of ruffled shoes, as well as those with other glamorous embellishments like rhinestones, sequins, bows, lace, and even feathers, all atop rich suedes, satins and velvets. Needless to say, these special touches will be especially prevalent on evening shoes.

4. Belts, Buckles, Rings and Studs on Shoes and Boots
The hardware trend isn't going anywhere just yet, so keep looking for shoes (and boots) with zippers, links, studs, and buckles. And if you've already bought some, don't put them away just yet, we're not quite done with heavy metal footwear. Of course, we need justification for all those buckles, and that comes via belts -- which are adorning short and tall boots alike.

5. Over the Knee Boots
Of all the Fall footwear trends, I'm most happy about the prevalence of over the knee boots, as they're one of my favorite footwear styles -- especially when they're flats, and that's exactly what we'll be seeing the most of. Tall, flat boots look especially great with skirts and dresses; they can be paired with tights or worn with bare legs; and they flatter while keeping your legs warm.
